Top mistakes you should avoid during job application to get 16+ interviews in a month

Recurring mistakes could cost you getting a job offer if not identified and rectified.

Let's see some of the common mistakes every job seeker makes while applying for a job that interests them.

1. Using the same resume:

Many of us use the same resume for all the jobs we apply for. It reduces the chances of attracting interview calls drastically. If the percentage of keywords found on your resume doesn't match the job description, it is uncertain that your resume will be picked.

Tip: Tailor your resume according to the job description

2. Not having a master resume:

If you don't have a master resume, you might end up having too many drafts of your resume that you for applying to different jobs/roles. You may also lose track of the progress in the resume revision.

The advantage of having a master resume is that there is no restriction on the page limit and keywords/skills. Add your professional experience, projects, and skills by being very descriptive.

Tip: Use your LinkedIn profile and Master resume to tailor resume based on JD

3. Not having an updated LinkedIn profile:

Some job seekers keep updating their resumes with recent works, projects, and skills acquired. But, they fail to update their LinkedIn profile. Many recruiters use LinkedIn to check the credibility of the work mentioned in the job seeker resumes. Not having an updated LinkedIn profile can decrease your chances of getting shortlisted for interviews.

Tip: Make sure that your LinkedIn profile matches with your Master resume
